A soap label covered edge to edge in the founder’s words

Dr. Bronner's · Beauty and personal care

Most soap labels leave room to breathe. Dr. Bronner’s is coated in 5.5 pt text, and when its founder ran out of space, he made a new scent.

The branding lesson

The Dr. Bronner’s label came before the soap: Emanuel Bronner wrote it “before there was a product on which to put it.” His granddaughter Lisa Bronner describes the Magic Soap label as “coated so completely with 5.5 pt. text that it almost fades into texture.” When he ran out of room, “he’d come up with a new scent with a new label to fill.”
